What if vegans went door to door?

Jehovah’s witnesses come by every now and again and because I’m not rude to them and chase them away, they keep coming back. It’s always the same routine– they hand me their Watchtower and talk to me about God and it’s usually pleasant. I keep a pamphlet on veganism by the door just so I can reciprocate the gesture. Today didn’t go as it usually does. I was in the middle of something and short on patience. I didn’t try very hard not to be rude and I’m pretty sure I should have tried a little harder. I’m not religious and not interested in being religious. Preaching to me from my doorstep won’t change that.
Anyway, this gave my husband the idea– what if vegans went door to door? Not that he thinks it’s a good idea, he was just curious as to how it would be received by the homeowner. I wonder if some people would feel enlightened since most people probably have no clue how much an animal suffers to become food. Maybe it would open their eyes to a different (likely healthier) diet. Like I was today, I bet the homeowner would be annoyed.
In many ways, veganism is like a religion. It’s a lifestyle that vegans are proud of and want everyone to be. At least, I want everyone to go vegan. It’s something that I’m passionate about, something that I’m unwilling to change, something that I love to discuss when asked.
So what do you think– what would happen if vegans went door to door?

That sounds interesting concept. I don’t know how people would react but maybe we could get couple vegans more.
But at least people couldn’t say that they don’t know how badly animals are treated or how their diet effects to our climate.
Maida – If I came to your door in the ministry, I would gladly accept your veganism pamphlet and would enjoy discussing such a subject with you. Actually, though, I may be a bit biased, as I am mainly a raw vegan (fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, occasional whole grains – nothing heated above 116 degrees F).
Not unlike myself, you will find that most of Jehovah’s Witnesses are quite interested in healthy lifestyle and diet, although personal choice varies greatly among individuals. Also, because each of us in our worldwide brotherhood is dealing with different circumstances, soil conditions, produce availability, finances, family and living conditions, it may not be possible for some to eat in such a healthy way. In fact some, especially in more underdeveloped countries, are subsisting on whatever they can obtain day by day. (Of course, if we are aware that any of our brothers are having difficulty obtaining sufficient food, and we are in a position to help them, we will do so.)
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that right now we are living in the last days, but that very soon Jehovah God and his son Jesus will take action to remove all wickedness and suffering (as well as all illnesses and other health challenges), and the earth, populated with righteous people who desire to live under God’s Kingdom rule forever. will then be allowed to return to its original paradise condition, just as it was in the Garden of Eden, when the only food eaten was fresh and vegan, and undoubtably uber delicious!. This is what I look forward to. How about you?
