Herbivore

We did a bit of traveling this weekend and on our way home, stopped for dinner at our favorite vegan restaurant in San Francisco, Herbivore. It’s never disappointing to eat there.
Matt had the burrito and I opted for the lentil loaf topped with the red beet sauce. It was served with mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy and a side of satueed greens (my best guess is chard, but I’m not entirely sure). Everything was very good!
To drink, I had the “green juice,” which I have to admit sounded super duper scary.

I lived right around the corner from the Herbivore in the Mission when I lived in San Francisco. 11 years later, I still miss it!
Oh my… I LOVE Plant Blood (that’s what I call veggie/fruit juice – haha). Yours sounds super delish! I’m drinking some straight up Carrot Plant Blood right now – fresh from my Breville juicer.
Cheers to your health,
Kristen
I’m developing a taste for “plant blood.” In fact, this morning Emma and I had some carrot apple juice made from about 8 small organic carrots and 4 organic apples. It was delicious and very filling. One day, I will have a fancy juicer capable of getting the blood out of spinach and the like. Yum!
Jennifer–
I miss Herbivore too… and I only live about 30 minutes away.
Makes the special trips there very special indeed.
I have been going to Herbivore on Valencia in the mission since late ninety’s and I must say the service has turned to shite… Last week, my wife went into buy a slice of cake to go. and the waitress cut the last remaining slice of Cake in half… took half of it back into the kitchen… wrapped up the other half and sold it to my wife for fool price… She didn’t ask for a receipt, so we could not return it when we got home and found out the less than half a slice she put in the box… Pathetic… they need some more competition …
Hi Will,
I agree with that. There really isn’t any competition for them. I haven’t been since writing this blog post and I don’t know that I care to. There are other places I’d rather give my money to. Sad… Aside from being totally vegan, there’s nothing special about them.
