Happy New Year & My 1st Super Awesome Giveaway
Filed Under (Giveaway) by maida on 03-01-2009
Another year came and went. Where did it go?! Time really does fly by so fast the older one gets. And speaking of getting older, I feel like Father Time is catching up with me. Last month, I had to get reading glasses and yesterday I went to the doctor to get my thyroid checked. I have hypothyroidism and have to get it checked once a year and while my thyroid is doing fine, I learned that I gained 15 pounds in one year! Yikes! What the heck happened?! Too many cupcakes and muffins. Too much bread, snacks and fatty fatty foods. It’s time for me to face it, I can’t eat what I want anymore. I need to be more disciplined.
My goal for 2009 is to do just that– to make healthier food choices and cut back on the things that added 15 pounds of fat to my gut and butt. But not so fast- don’t start thinking things here will be boring from here on out. Quite the contrary. Yes, I will be eating a lot of salads and watching portion sizes, but I am determined to still make tasty, blog-worthy food. I will also be dabbling a bit more into the world of Raw cuisine, which is something I know next-to-nothing about, but am very curious nonetheless. So stick around, things will still be fun and exciting! Maybe some of you have a few pounds to shed, so let’s do it together.
Also on the agenda for 2009 is a monthly giveaway! Each month, I’ll come up with something that you may want to get your hands on and all you’d need to do is leave a comment. It’s that easy! Let’s get started, shall we… January’s super awesome prize is…. (insert drum roll here)… a jar of my (delicious) homemade, organic apple butter.

Some of you may have gotten one as part of your Christmas gift from us and if you like it enough to want another, feel free to enter yourself into the contest. To have a chance at winning, all you have to do is answer this question in the comments section of this post: What changes would you like to make in 2009?
You’ll have until 11:59 pm on Saturday, January 10 to submit your answer. After that, I will enter everyone’s name who answered the question into a drawing, announce the winner and get your prize in the mail to you.

I’d love to be able to bake a lot more often. Hopefully my schedule will allow it this year. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d like to see everyone in my family eat right and lose weight.
My main change is to get better eating habits. Not only to lose weight but to also improve my overall health. I am going to start a veggie garden and learn how to use products I grow as a way to save money and also to learn to eat better.
I want to become better organized.
In 2009 I’d like to try to exercise more…since I know I won’t eat less
I would love to be entered for the apple butter. Thanks
I would like to do more strength training in addition to my cardio!
My change is to avoid tar babies! And given all the bad stuff going on with the economy and the world, I will try hard to look at the things more like a Pollyana would.
Eating just a bit less
This year I hope to make a decent loaf of bread! Thanks for the giveaway!
I am definitely challenged when it comes to bread making. If it weren’t for my bread machine, I’d be hopeless!
What an awesome idea for Christmas gifts and a giveaway! I’ve decided to become better at responding to emails in a timely manner. I tend to read them and then not respond for a while, which is so horrible.
I would like to be Matt’s Pollyanna role model in 2009. I will also use your yummy apple butter in all my oatmeal cookies forever…it’s fantastic!
i would like to learn to take some me time and slow down a bit
I am going to can a larger variety of food this year in case of a bad economy. I want to add more beans and fruits to my list.
I’m going to work on improving my overall health.
I want to change my eating habits, more healthier foods instead of junk foods
I want to walk with my dogs once a day.
I really would want to be able to focus better, and study harder…so that i wouldn’t be a procrastinator no more
