So it seems that the end date for my July giveaway has come and gone… and I didn’t even notice. So, I will extend the giveaway a few more days. It will officially end at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, July 22.

I’m finally getting around to posting this month’s giveaway– so sorry for the delay. It’s been a crazy month, and we’re only 8 days in. There just aren’t enough hours in the day, ‘know what I mean?!
I have 2 prizes this month, courtesy of good friend of mine. Trina knits all kinds of fabulous things and, for my giveaway, she has made 2 trivets (pictured below). Believe it or not, these trivets are made from recycled cotton t-shirts! The winners will also receive one jar each of my homemade organic apple butter.

Trina came up with a logo idea that I really, really like (now I just need someone to make it for me– if you want the job, send me an email please!!) and Ginger came up with a name that I really, really like. The only problem with the name is that the domain is not available, so I need to think about a variation or something. When I officially register the domain and have the site up and running, I’ll announce it then.

In lieu of a giveaway this month, I am holding a contest.
The Prize
If you are local to the Bay Area, you will win two dozen of my cupcakes (or get two dozen free if you wanted to place an order). This can be any flavor or combination you choose (please see my cakes page for more information on flavors). If you are not local, you will win a homemade chocolate cake mix, enough to make roughly 2 dozen cupcakes. I will mix together all of the dry ingredients and mail it off to you along with the complete recipe. Also for the non-local winner, I will include 12 fondant cupcake toppers. The theme for these toppers will be up to you– I will make whatever you want.
The Details
I’ve sort of started up a home cake/cupcake business and I want to give it a real name and domain. I’ve tried coming up with some myself, but none have appealed to me much. I don’t necessarily want the name to reference the cakes being vegan, but I would like to incorporate the idea of compassion, cruelty-free, etc. One idea I have is “Compassionate Cakes,” just to give you an idea of what I mean by that.
Since I want to be able to register the domain, please send me your ideas using the form below NOT by leaving a comment. One entry per person (i.e. although I would be okay with getting multiple form submissions from you, they will not get you more entries). The only ways to gain extra entries is by (1) coming up with taglines for each of your name ideas and/or (2) posting about and linking to this contest on your blog, Facebook or MySpace page or whatever. “I have to say our immersion blender (aka stick blender). I chose it because there’s no good alternative to blending hot off the stove soups. I used to have to pour hot soup into the blender and then back into the soup pot over and over until it was all blended. The immersion blender does it so much faster, and safer!”
I totally agree that the immersion blender is so handy for soups. Congrats!

On a somewhat related note, I think I came up with a pretty clever idea for next months giveaway, or perhaps contest. Let me know what you think of this (just leave a comment at this post): I’ll hold some sort of contest and the prize will be some homemade cupcakes. I’ll let you choose maybe 2 flavors (cake & buttercream– whatever you want, even if I’ve never made it before) and, once they are ready, I’ll overnight them to you. If you like them, maybe I’ll one day have an option for you to order some more. 
I’m still working on the logistics here, but I think it’ll work. The only downside is that you must live in the U.S. since the least expensive overnight shipping is through the USPS. If you live close enough, I’ll just deliver them myself. If you do live within my general vicinity and would like some cupcakes for an event or just for fun, email me (see sidebar for address) and I’m sure we can work something out.
Anyway, now the question is– what should the contest be??!
I’m pretty busy this month and have no time to come up with or seek out a really great giveaway prize, so I’m going to tempt you all with vegan snacks.
